ऋषभ पंत का जन्म 4 ऑक्टोबर 1997 को रुरकी, उत्तराखंड में हुआ। ऋषभ के पिता का नाम राजेंद्र पंत था और माँ का नाम सरोज पंत था, उनकी एक बहन भी है जिसका नाम साक्षी पंत है। ऋषभ पंत के पिता की 2017 में हार्ट अटैक के वजह से 2017 में मौत हो गयी थी, उससे संभल कर इस मुकाम तक पहुंचना कोई आसान बात नही है। ऋषभ को बचपन से ही क्रिकेट खेलना का बहुत ज्यादा शौक था। घर के आर्थिक हालात अच्छे नही थे फिर भी ऋषभ ने अपने सपने को नही छोड़ा मेहनत करते रहे। ऋषभ दिल्ली में रहते थे। ऋषभ के कोच तारक सिन्हा थे जिन्होंने शिखर धवन को भी ट्रेन किया था। तारक सिन्हा ने उनको सलाह दी थी के वो राजस्थान जाए ताकि अपने क्रिकेट कप ज्यादा टाइम दे सके, क्योकि कोच जान चुके थे ऋषभ में बहुत ज्यादा टैलेंट है और ऋषभ इसके लिए बहुत ज्यादा मेहनत करते थे। ऋषभ ने राजस्थान जाकर अपने आपको अंडर 14 और अंडर 16 में रिप्रेजेंट करा, लेकिन उन्हें राजस्थान क्रिकेट अकादमी ने यह कहकर निकाल दिया के वह एक आउटसाइडर है। इसके बाद भी ऋषभ ने अपनी प्रैक्टिस चालू रखी और अपने गेम पर बहुत ज्यादा फोकस करना चालू कर दिया। एक दिन आया जब उनकी मेहनत सफल हो गयी और दिसम्बर 2015 में अंडर 19 क्रिकेट टीम का हिस्सा बनने का उनको मौका मिला और वहाँपर ऋषभ ने 18 बॉल में हाफ सेंचुरी लगा दी। फरवरी 2016 में आईपीएल में DD ने उन्हें 1.9 करोड़ में खरीदा। इसके बाद ऋषभ ने इंडिया अंडर 19 में सेंचुरी लगा दी। पंत का आइडल ऍडम गिलख्रिष्ट है और पंत बैटिंग स्टाइल भी उनसे काफी इंस्पायर्ड है। ऋषभ ने रणजी ट्रॉफी में 48 बॉल में शतक भी लगाया है। इसके बाद क्या पंत का इंडियन नेशनल टीम में आना तय ही था। ऋषभ का T20 डेब्यु फरवरी 2017 में इंग्लैंड के खिलाफ हुआ, टेस्ट डेब्यु अगस्त 2018 में इंग्लैंड के खिलाफ और एकदिवसीय डेब्यु ऑक्टोबर 2018 में वेस्टइंडीज के खिलाफ हुआ।
