महेंद्र सिंह धोनी द ग्रेट इंडियन कैप्टन जिनकी ग्राउंड पर एंट्री हो जाने पर पूरे ग्राउंड पर सिर्फ धोनी,धोनी यही गूंज सुनाई देती है। धोनी ,थाला, माही ऐसे कही सारे शोर ग्राउंड पे सुनाई देते है। धोनी एक ऐसा नाम है जिसका हर कोई फैन है, बच्चे से बूढ़े तक। ऐसे ही हमारे माही के जीवन के बारे में आज हम कुछ बाते जानेंगे।
धोनी का जन्म 7 जुलाई 1981 में बिहार के रांची में हुआ था जो अब झारखंड में है। माही एक राजपूत घराने से है ऐसा कहा जाता है। उनका पुस्तेनी घर उत्तराखंड के अलमारा इलाके में लवाली गांव में है। जॉब के सिलसिले में धोनी के पिताजी पानसिंह धोनी रांची शिफ्ट होगये थे।
पानसिंहजी MECON में बतौर जूूनिअर मैनेजर काम करते थे। उनके भाई का नाम नरेंद्र सिंंह धोनी था। बेहेन का नाम जयंती गुुप्ता था। माही के मााताजी का नाम देवकी देेेवी था।

माही बचपन से ही गिलक्रिस्ट, सचिन तेंदुलकर, लता मंगेशकर, और अमिताभ बच्चनजी के बड़े फैन थे। धोनी की सुरुवाति पढ़ाई DAV जवाहर विद्यामंदिर सिमली में हुई। सुरु से ही उनका स्पोर्ट्स की तरफ ज्यादा ध्यान था। बचपन से ही धोनी को बहुत सारे खेल पसंद थे। कभी धोनी बैडमिंटन खेलते तो कभी फुटबॉल। फ़ुटबॉल में धोनी गोलकीपर थे। धोनी जानते नही थे कि आगे जाकर उन्हें गोलकिपर ही बनना है। धोनी के गोलकीपिंग के हुनर को देखकर धोनी को लोकल क्रिकेट क्लब ने उनके क्लब में ले लिया। हालांकि तब धोनी ज्यादा बल्ला नही चलाते थे उनको गोलकीपिंग के वजह से ले लिया गया था।
1995-1998 तक धोनी कमांडो क्रिकेट क्लब से जुड़े रहे। धोनी ने उसमे इतना अच्छा प्रदर्शन किया कि धोनी को वीनू मंकड़ ट्रॉफी अंडर 16 में चुना गये। 10 वी पास होने के बाद धोनी ने ट्रेन टिकिट examinar की एग्जाम दी वहाँपर भी धोनी सेलेक्ट हो गए।2001-02 तक धोनी साउथ ईस्टर्न रेल्वे के साथ जुड़े रहे।
धोनी बिहार अंडर 19 स्कोट मैं भी खेले है और उसके बाद ज़ारखण्ड के लिए भी खेले है। जब भी धौनी का बल्ला चल जाता तो उस टीम की जीत तय हो जाती थी। बिहार के लिए खेलते हुए धोनी का सलेक्शन रणजी ट्रॉफी के लिए 2002 में हुआ। उसके बाद धोनी ने देवधर ट्रॉफी में भी हनड्रेड लगाया
था।
इंडियन टीम में धोनी कैसे पहुंचे? BCCI की एक मोहिम होती है जहाँपर छोटे शहरों में जाकर जबरदस्त टैलेंट ढूंढा जाता है। तब प्रकाश पोतदार जो बंगाल के कप्तान रह चुके थे उनकी नजर महेंद्र पर पड़ी। धोनी का हुनर देखकर धोनी का सलेक्शन इंडिया a के लिए हुआ। 
धोनी ने इंडिया a में अच्छा प्रदर्शन किया। तब उस वक़्त के कप्तान गांगुली की नजर धोनी पर पड़ी तब रवि शास्री भी धोनी के हुनर के दीवाने हो गए थे। इंडियन टीम को वीकेटकिपर बल्लेबाज को जरूरत थी, तब इंडियन टीम में धोनी का सिलेक्शन हुआ। पर माही 2005 में बांग्लादेश देश दौरे पर जीरो बन गए। धोनी पहले ही मैच में जीरो पे रनआउट हो गए। बांग्लादेश की सीरीज उनके लिए खराब रही। उसके बाद पाकिस्तान के खिलाफ धोनी 123 गेंदोमे 148 रन बनाकर रिकॉर्ड बनाया जो किसी भी विकेटकीपर को आजतक की सबसे हाईएस्ट टोटल थी। उसके बाद श्रीलंका के खिलाफ सचिन जल्दी आउट हो गए थे टारगेट 299 था तब धोनी ने 183 रन बनाकर इंडिया को जीत दिलाई थी तब से धोनी टीम के हीरो बन गए थे। धीरे धीरे चलता गया धोनी उपकप्तान बने फिर 2007 में t20 टीम के कप्तान बने।
धोनी के पर्सनल लाइफ के बारे में जाने तो धोनी की शादी 4 जुलाई 2010 को उनको gf साक्षी से हो गयी थी। उनको 2015 में एक बेटी हुई है जिसका नाम जीवा है।
धोनी के निक नेम्स धोनी , माही ,थाला, ms ये है। धोनी की hight 178cm है । धोनी एक राइट हैंडेड बैट्समैन और राइट आर्म मीडियम बॉलर है और बहुत ही ज्यादा अच्छे विकेटकीपर है। 
कप्तानी की बात करे तो धोनी हमारे इंडियन क्रिकेट टीम के इकलौते ऐसे कप्तान है अभीतक जिसने t20ववर्ल्डकप, one day वर्ल्डकप, और चैंपियन ट्रॉफी जीती है। 2007 में t20, 2011 में one day वर्ल्डकप जीतकर सचिन का सपना पूरा किया, और 2013 में चैंपियन ट्रॉफी। 2019 में भी वर्ल्डकप मे अगर धोनी आउट नहीं होते तो शायद इंडिया सेमि फाइनल जीत जाती ऐसा सबको लगता है ,बट ओ बैडलक था।
परफॉरमेंस की बात करे तो धोनी अबतक विकेटकीपिंग की कैरियर में 3 फॉर्मेट में अबतक 634 कैच पकड़े है और 195 स्टंपिंग की है, जो कि पूरे वर्ल्ड में 3 रे स्थान पर है। मार्क बाउचर पहले और गिलक्रिस्ट दूसरे स्थान पर है।
धोनी का टेस्ट डेब्यु 2 dec 2005 में श्रीलंका के खिलाफ हुआ था, odi डेब्यु 23dec 2004 को बंगलादेश के खिलाफ हुआ था । और t20 डेब्यु 1 dec 2006 में साउथ अफ्रीका के खिलाफ हुआ था। धोनी सुरु से ही आईपीएल में चेन्नई सुपरकिंग्स के कैप्टन रहे है और चेन्नई को 3 बार आईपीएल की ट्रॉफी दिलाई है। 2 साल धोनी आईपीएल में राइजिंग पुणे के साथ भी जुड़े थे।
धोनी के अबतक के क्रिकेट परफॉर्मेंस की बात करे तो धोनी ने अबतक 90 टेस्ट खेले है , 4876 रन बनाए है, टेस्ट में उनका highscore 224 और 6 शतक है। odi में 350 मैच, 10773 रन 183 हाईस्कोर और 10 शतक है। t20 में 98 मैच 1617 रन और हाइस्कोर 56 है। आईपीएल में 190 मैच 4432 रन्स और 84 धौनी का हाइस्कोर है। धोनी आईपीएल और t20 में शतक नही बना पाए है। धोनी अपना आखरी odi न्यूज़ीलैंड के खिलाफ 2019 वर्ल्डकप सेमीफाइनल में खेले थे वह मैच इंडिया हार गया था, तबसे धोनी अबतक कोई मैच नही खेले है।
2011 में धोनी को क्रिकेट में इस योगदान के लिए भारतीय क्षेत्रीय सेना में मानद लेफ्टिनेंट कर्नल के पद से सम्मानित किया गया था। अगस्त 2019 में उन्होंने वें क्षेत्रीय सेना के साथ दो सप्ताह पूरे किए।
धोनी के अवार्ड्स की बात करे तो धोनी को 2018 में पदमभूषण से नवाजा गया था। 2009 पद्मश्री और 2007-08 में राजीव ग़ांधी खेल रत्न से धोनी का सम्मनित किया गया था।
धोनी के जीवन पर एक मूवी भी बनी है जिसका का नाम MS दोनों थे अनटोल्ड स्टोरी है जिनमे धोनी का किरदार सुशान्त सिंह राजपूत ने किया था।
